You should have recieved an e-mail about this, but just in case that accidently ended up in your junk mail, let me reinterate – all public files on eSnips are now downloadable!
But if for some reason you don’t want your files downloaded by others (though personally I think it’s awesome), don’t worry, this has no effect on files in Private or Shared folders, and you can still opt out of your public content being downloaded.
All you need to do is to go into the relevant folder, in the “Details” setting, and click the “Edit Details” option over the individual file you’d like to change. Between your popular tags and the Captcha field you’ll see a check box labeled “Download”. Uncheck it, save settings, and go back to your folder to confirm the change. And that’s it!

After this rather splendid post about how all files are now downloadable,
I suggest making another one about the current upload problems I and many others are experiencing.
For some reason it is impossible for me to upload an mp3 containing nothing but silence (the most drastic example). Normally Audible Magic shouldn’t block that, so I think it’s more likely that the rumours that Esnips is changing servers right now are true. But so far no official announcement has been made, neither in this blog nor in the forum – which saddens me because I think a lot of people would want to know why they are not able to upload their songs right now.
And then there are those random “Internal server Errors”…

Why does it still show that “Download” link, although I unchecked the box?
I tried it several times checking and unchecking it, but nothing happens, the link stays. This doesn’t apply to all of my files, it does work but not in every file and it’s toilsome with these annpying captchas! >(

Why does it still show the Download-Link although I unchecked that box in the details? I don’t want my files to be downloaded, but they still show the download link, no matter how much I check and uncheck that box!

I am trying to download a bunch of images in my folder. Why isn’t there a ‘download all’ feature so that I can download all my images at once. Why do I have to do it one at a time? This just doesn’t make sense.

Yes, that’s true!
Which also means the only file that really is always downloadable is the Esnips downloader (Esnips.exe) which they force down our throats. PLEASE make it optional again!

HELLO EVERYONE,
I am an esnips fan. I am using ubuntu linux8.04 with firefox 3.5 to access esnips. whenever i click on any download link, all it says is to install esnips toolbar. NO ACTUAL DOWNLOAD. Also the executable is for windows only. So I wonder, Does esnips plan to eliminate all linux users like me from accessing esnips? I have no probs to download via esnips tool. But we the linux users dont have the option to download proper executable. So we are shut out.

Yes, Luissa, that’s the thing I’m doing the whole time!
Still it won’t do me the favor to just get rid of the download link!
And as I said before, it actually does work on several of my audio files,

The Snips widgets just don’t seem to be very reliable to me . I have been working on this for a couple of years and every time I give it another chance , it just doesn’t work . I have checked and re-checked my individual settings , which are publicly available here but I can’t share them with my real contacts . This is really annoying in that I have taken a lot of time to up load and make the widgets . They sit there and are unplayable and uncontrollable. All that happens is that they advertise Esnips by links but they don’t play my Mp3s . Boy , that just defeats my purpose altogether .
( I am not sure what is meant by “Website” above but I listed one of my folders sites at Esnips to illustrate)
